Check Out the Mysterious Swamp Foetus
I often mention the fact that from time to time we get some curious correspondences in the ol' Dread Central mailbox. And today was one of those days. A very mysterious email arrived with a subject line that simply said "Swamp Foetus: A Film". Being the curious soul that I am, I dug a little deeper ... check this out.
The body of the email said just this: "Would be honored if you guys could check out a short film my wife and I made over the last nine months ... for fun. For Halloween. Hope you dig!" I checked out the video, and I've gotta tell you, for a project executed by just a guy and his wife, it was pretty good. I had to find out more.
Investigating the email, I found a contact address and found out the film was created by a couple known simply as John and Melissa of PumpkinRot.com, two of the biggest Halloween fans you'll ever find. They go absolutely off the deep end every year creating amazing Halloween displays and decided to bring their work to life shooting a film surrounding a life-sized witch puppet. (And I've got to tell you the puppet is great. Upon first viewing, I thought it was an actress in a mask ... It's a puppet!)
If that weren't enough, John drops this on me: The movie was shot using a five-year-old digital CAMERA ... not a video camera! In a tribute to his youth when he and his brother would shoot on Super 8mm, John filmed this one old school. And the brilliant score was written specifically for the film by Jon Glassett.
Okay, so the mystery of Swamp Foetus was solved ... and they would have gotten away with it if it weren't for us meddling kids! Scroll down and enjoy a film made just for the sheer love of the craft.

I'm glad you put this video up on this site. I've been following the Pumpkinrot blog for a couple of years now. That guy is so talented. He deserves this kind of recognition. Awesome film with a very creepy, dark atmospheric quality.
