Neverending Nightmares Delves into Fear Like No Other GameFair warning: This isn’t your usual snark-filled Crix Lee story. Those who suffer from mental illnesses like depression and OCD sometimes feel helpless and like there’s no one who understands what they’re going through, and that thinking can lead to devastating results.

Then there are some who recognize the creative outlets that help them learn to cope and get to the heart of the matter, whether it be art, music or, in Matt Gilgenbach’s case, video games.

Gilgenbach had been battling OCD and depression for years, and when Retro/Grade (an indie game he poured his heart, soul and money into) did well with the critics but not so well financially, the subsequent fallout put his OCD and depression into overdrive and put him in a dark place that included self-mutilation.

But instead of letting his despair act out on these thoughts, Gilgenbach turned once again to video games and created a game that explores these very thoughts and notions. Called Neverending Nightmares, this game explores different aspects of mental illness in the form of a psychological horror game.

Check out this teaser from the gameā€¦ I gotta warn you, though; this will give even the most hardened horror fan the chills. My curiosity is well-piqued and I’m keeping a hopeful eye out on this game.
