Exclusive: Todd Farmer Gives Updates on Halloween III, New Hellraiser Flick

While chatting today with writer and actor Todd Farmer about the upcoming home video release of the criminally under-watched Drive Angry 3D, Dread Central had the opportunity to get an update on two upcoming projects he’s attached to: the new Hellraiser project as well as Halloween III.

Exclusive: Todd Farmer Gives Updates on Halloween III, New Hellraiser FlickFor fans looking for some news on Halloween III, Farmer said that the project will still eventually go forward, but most likely it will happen after he and director Patrick Lussier (who collaborated on both My Bloody Valentine 3D and Drive Angry) finish with their upcoming reimagining of Hellraiser.

Don’t worry, Clive Barker fans; Farmer says this new film isn’t planning to be a remake of Barker’s original movie. “We didn’t get on board for Hellraiser to remake Clive’s movie,” explained Farmer. “That movie is so unique and tells such a personal story so we don’t really see the need to remake it. Our plans are to take the mythology and set it in a modernized world that makes sense in context with the original. It’s not a remake and it’s not a reboot - it’s something else entirely. But we are definitely planning for our Hellraiser to be very R-rated so fans shouldn’t be worried there.”

“I think Halloween III will happen once we’re done with Hellraiser. I know we’ve spoken to Bob (Weinstein) and he’s still very much on board to make that movie happen, and I know we are, too, but I think it’s going to be a long ways off before we start working on Halloween III,” added Farmer.

And there you have it. Keep it here for more from Todd regarding Drive Angry in the coming days!

If Halloween III has Hobo Myers singing the Silver Shamrock song, count me in...

They really need to drop all of the Zombie shit for the next 'Halloween' flick. Dump it like the dirty, stinking hobo that it is.

Laurie and Loomis are dead in the original series, Laurie and Loomis are dead in Zombie's marathon of turdliness. Just have the next 'Halloween' film start off with Myers as a legendary bogeyman who returns home on Halloween, wearing his Kirk mask over a clean-shaven face. No beards, no white horses, no suburban strip clubs. And please, no fucking 'Love Hurts' or extended dance mixes of 'Nights in White Satin' that go on for 15 fucking minutes.

Oh, and no "Dieeeeeee!" for that matter.

I hate to say it, but Drive Angry was a dissapointment. It wasn't an awful film and it had some good moments, but the whole movie hangs on those and the majority of the running time is an excuse to get to the brief money shots.

The film was like Machete, a tribute to style over substance where moments are supposed to be enough to make up for characters without believable motivations (just why was the waitress going along with Cage the whole time).

I wanted to like the film but if you're going to make a 'bug fuck in your face' exploitation film then you have to make the decision to go all the way, otherwise your a softcore porn being compared to the tripple X material. i.e. I saw this after viewing the awesome 'Hobo With a Shotgun'. It simply can't compare, feeling watered down and less entertaining.

If you can't give us batshit intensity you have to make up for it with a compelling story and characters or a much more comic tone.

Drive Angry sucked. It's one of the worst movies of 2011, bar none. It had no idea what it was doing or who it was appealing to, it was a mess. Thank god it flopped.

No more.....at least not from Dimension Flubs or Farmer/Lussier. I hold both properties in too high a regard.
