Beware the Indonesian Beach Creature!

One look at the trailer for this new Indonesian monster movie called Beach Creature (or Jenglot Pantai Selatan if you're Indonesian) and you'll quickly realize Piranha 3D is proving far more influential than any of us have yet realized. Lots of scantily clad women and an aquatic monster wreaking gory havoc - looks like fun to me.

"Randy, Temmi, Denisa, and Josh are expecting to enjoy their holiday fun on an exclusive beach. Virgin Beach. Newly bought by a young entrepreneur to be developed as a tourist attraction. No one suspects that in one of the nearby villages a strange creature will emerge, which they call a Jenglot, that thirsts for blood. A Jenglot that has been captured is believed to be the protector of Virgin Beach. The Jenglot escapes back into the sea and starts to hunt down anyone who pollutes the sanctity of the beach."

The power of the Internet brings the following information about the creature known as the Jenglot: Jenglot is a type of mysterious vampire-like creature of Indonesian mythology. Described as a living, creepy mummy with flesh that appears to be fossilized, said to be about 15cm to 20cm length, with staring eyes and long nails and joined feet that give it a mermaid-like appearance.

In other words, perfect fodder for a b-monster movie. And that's exactly what the trailer promises.

Beach Creature opens in Indonesia February 17th. Who know when we'll get to see it. Hopefully sooner rather than later.
