Ron Howard Reveals Dark Tower Plans

Any director taking on the Herculean task of adapting Stephen King's much beloved Dark Tower series no doubt will have his work cut out for him. Good thing we have a talent like Ron Howard behind the project.

According to Bloody Disgusting via an interview on The Howard Stern Show Ron Howard revealed his plans for his The Dark Tower, the film and TV series adaptations based on Stephen King's novels.

First and foremost, he clarified everything is still in development, meaning things could still fall apart. In between the first two movies, Howard states he plans a six-hour miniseries bridging the gap. Lastly, he confirmed that Viggo Mortensen (The Lord of the Rings) and Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men) are the current frontrunners for the role of Roland Deschain.

Keep your guns loaded, kids! Things are looking good!

Good thing we have a talent like Ron Howard behind the project. <--- That's a quote.

Howard is a terrible director. His films ooze sentiment, bludgeon you with the obvious and never take a single risk. Visually they're dull as well. He has no soul and his body of work is so shallow it couldn't drown a fruit fly.

Please god let it be Mortensen, after seeing him in A History of Violence, that is who I've pictured as Roland while re-reading the books.

Regardless of who gets cast, I cannot fucking wait!
