James Gunn's Super Headed to Theatres in New York, LA, and More!

We're very particular about what kind of superhero film coverage we dole out around here. There has to be something really dark or some form of monster involved to get our attention. In James Gunn's new flick Super (review here), we have a semi-psychotic Rainn Wilson thinking he's a superhero and beating people unmercifully with a club. Yep. That's good enough for us!

Word just came in that IFC Films is releasing James Gunn's Super, starring Wilson, Ellen Page, Liv Tyler and Kevin Bacon, April 1st in New York and Los Angeles and will expand from there to top markets nationwide.

For more check out James Gunn's official website. In the interim dig on some new stills from the flick as well as the clip that was shown at this year's Scream Awards below.

Is this a horror movie or a thriller? Or are you just mentioning it because it's James Gunn? What if he makes a romance comedy starring Julia Roberts and Clive Own, will you cover that?

America wants to know.

It could have something to do with the fact that when Wilson hits the guy with the wrench, the man's head gushes fairly copious amounts of blood.

And again I must ask, why didn't "Kick Ass" get any coverage?

I'm pretty sure that question was answered in the first paragraph of the story: we have a semi-psychotic Rainn Wilson thinking he's a superhero and beating people unmercifully with a club

Not pure horror certainly, but with the combination of Gunn and the storyline it's worth a mention.

So do you guys plan to review "Kick-Ass" then? People dressing up as superheroes killing mobsters and gang members? Little girl raging on thugs cutting their limbs off?

Will you be reviewing the sequel or the new comic book?

Hey the article pointed out for the reader its standards in covering superhero fare, I'm merely delving more in to the context. Will Kick Ass be covered?

James Gun ... Known for directing and loving horror movies ...

Super - Dark violent movie about a psycho who thinks he's a super hero.

On the fringe? Yes! Worthy of mention? Totally.

Getting major coverage here? No.

When we decide something is Dread-worthy we let you guys now about it. Sorry for not running it by you first! ;)

Don't you ever get tired of singing the same old song? It's been several years, man! LOL

LOVED IT!

This was always on the radar but now it is a MUST SEE.

I hope it makes Gunn some money, he's one seriously underrated film maker; Slither was fantastic.
