The Walking Dead Season 2 Not Coming Until October 2011

In what has to be the most painful news ever to hit fans of The Walking Dead and AMC's stellar adaptation, word has come down just when we'll be seeing Season Two shambling its way to TV. Prepare, dearest reader, for an absolutely torturous wait.

According to The Hollywood Reporter AMC isn't likely to launch the 13-episode second season until next October.

The reason? Fearfest. AMC's annual horror movie marathon served as a perfect promotional platform to ramp up interest for "The Walking Dead", which also took advantage of the higher audience levels during the fall (something not all cable shows can pull off given the barrage of broadcast shows airing at the same time -- which is why most cable dramas run during the summer).

There is a faint silver lining though. THR also reports that Frank Darabont will return to the director's chair for more undead mayhem. This is going to be one hell of a long year.

I kinda already had a feeling they wouldn't show the second season till next october, and Im fine with that, because early next year they have to get everything ready for season 2, film ALOT then edit, so that might take awhile

They should do what USA does with some shows, just do 8 episode 'seasons' and do them twice a year.

Burn Notice will premire in June for 8 then come back in November for another 8.

I would take a few less episodes at a time to get them without the year wait.

When did you think it would return...it has to be in the fall...all of their other show...and then the 2nd season hasn't even gone in production. Twice as many episodes to film and write? I think this would ensure we would not just get season 1.5!
