Trailer for 30 Seconds to Mars Short Film Hurricane
30 Seconds to Mars, recently named Best Rock Band at this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards in Madrid, has just released a video preview for “Hurricane,” a short film titled after the track of the same name from the band’s latest album release, This Is War. The film, like the “This Is War” and “Kings and Queens” videos, was directed by Bartholomew Cubbins.
We know you guys are fairly indifferent with regard to music news here on the site, but considering that the roughly 20-minute long "Hurricane" will be, as frontman Jared Leto describes it, a "meditation on the violence of sex and the sex of violence", we thought you'd enjoy checking out the imagery utilized in the trailer.
Leto further told KROQ that "the video is a surrealistic dream, nightmare, fantasy through the streets of New York City at night where the people and places that are normally reserved for the darker recesses of this town are kind of brought into the light and celebrated. It’s like a big, giant art opening really where the freaks have taken over the town." Sold!
In addition, the band (comprised of singer/guitarist Leto, drummer Shannon Leto, and guitarist Tomo Milicevic) has released a deluxe edition of This Is War which features “Hurricane 2.0” featuring Kanye West, live versions of Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” and Kanye West’s “Stronger,” which the band recorded for BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge, the “Kings & Queens” and “Closer To The Edge” videos along with bonus DVD content. The new edition of the album also has four different covers and an entirely new look and design. Fans can order the deluxe edition on iTunes or from the Evilshop below.
