true on that Cinemascribe, the Atmosphere in MadMan is much better then the burning, But i always felt that the burning had much more characters(victims) that act very REAL and are very Likable, every one of those kids in the Burning is Likable and believable in their own way, Plus i felt The Burning has a creepier Killler and bloodier, more mean spirited kills (come on "the RAFT MASSACRE" scene is fucking priceless)
but hey to each his own

Creepy, i'm gonna go out and say this but I felt "the Burning" was a much better SummerCamp Slasher Film
don't get me wrong "Madman" is a Slasher Classic

Hmmmm.. I gotta disagree, JC. I think Madman did a superior job of capturing that "urban legend" vibe both films went for.
Although (if memory serves) The Burning is the bloodier film overall, I thought Madman was creepier..and that scene with the hood of the truck is an all time classic.
I will not be purchasing the new DVD however. I already own the original widescreen DVD release and it's just fine. Looks good, plays well and suits my needs (I'm not an extras man).I don't double dip if I can avoid it.
