IFC Acquires Tetsuo II & III and Wake

IFC Acquires Tetsuo II & III and WakeOur friends at IFC dropped us a line to let us know about some of their recent genre acquisitions, and they've definitely got some good ones on their hands. Hot off the heels of The Human Centipede, come on in and see what's waiting in the wings at IFC (Hint: it's Tetsuo II & III).

From the Press Release

In IFC Midnight news, we recently acquired two films from director Shinya Tsukamoto’s acclaimed Tetsuo trilogy: TETSUO III: THE BULLET MAN, the third installment in the series and the first new Tetsuo film in nearly 20 years; and TETSUO II: THE BODY HAMMER (1992), the second film in the series. The series tells the story of a man who, upon getting angry, becomes a human weapon. We plan an early 2011 release for both films.

We are also excited to announce the acquisition of Chad Feehan’s WAKE, which had its world premiere at SXSW this year. Jamie-Lynn Sigler and Josh Stewart star in this riveting thriller about a young couple who check into a creepy desert motel, where someone – or something – forces them to expose their darkest secrets. WAKE will be released via IFC Midnight on Demand.

From what I remember, Body Hammer was pretty good. Very different from the original and much more linear, or as linear as Tsukamoto’s Tetsuo films will allow. A very interesting and different film for him was A Snake in June, very moody and slow.
