Dead Cert Update and New Exclusive Stills
Writer/producer Jonathan Sothcott just dropped us a line with the good news that later this week we'll be getting a look at the UK DVD artwork for director Steven Lawson's Dead Cert, and in the meantime he's given us a few new exclusive stills and an update on what we can expect to see once it's released.
Starring Craig Fairbrass and Billy Murray, Dead Cert follows a gang of tough London gangsters who get more than they bargained for when a group of businessmen make an offer to buy their club, the Inferno. They turn out to be nothing less than vampires wanting their land back and turn viciously on the gangsters when their demands are not met.
Sothcott describes the film as "a fun vampire romp through London’s East End in the tradition of The Lost Boys, Dracula AD 1972, and Vamp. It's an old fashioned vampire movie with none of this sparkling Twilight malarkey, and I think genre fans will really enjoy it. Great monsters, gorgeous girls, and bundles of action – everything you could want in a horror movie!"
He goes on to describe two of the actors in Dead Cert, Billy Murray and Steven Berkoff as follows: "Billy has the same qualities as an actor that De Niro and Nicholson do. He can be utterly charming and utterly terrifying – and he can turn either on at will. He’s an actor whose brilliant TV work kept him away from film audiences in the last decade, but his performances in recent movies like Rise of the Footsoldier, Freight, and now Dead Cert are utterly compelling – an incredibly accomplished, stylish film actor at the top of his game."
"The word ‘legend’ is used too easily in this game, but Steven Berkoff deserves it. A truly brilliant Hollywood villain in Beverly Hills Cop, Rambo, and Octopussy (the first film I ever saw at a theatre), it was an absolute honour to have him in the film."
