Western Actors to Meet Eastern Filmmaking Sensibilities in Vampire

Rachael Leigh CookThis was tried on the Masters of Horror episode "Imprint", and due to the communication breakdown between director Takashi Miike and the English only speaking actor Billy Drago, the results were hilariously hammy! Hopefully director Iwai Shunji will fare far better!

According to Screen Daily a hot cast (oh how we HATE that expression) of young Western stars has joined Vampire, the English-language feature debut of Japanese director Iwai Shunji, including Keisha Castle-Hughes and Rachael Leigh Cook (pictured right).

In the film Kevin Zegers (Frozen, Dawn of the Dead, Wrong Turn) plays a schoolteacher with a taste for human blood who searches for suicidal young women as his victims, all of whom he falls in love with before their deaths.

Also on board the film, which started shooting in Vancouver last week, are Kristin Kreuk ("Smallville"), Adelaide Clemens (X-Men: Origins), and Trevor Morgan (Mean Creek). Previously announced cast includes Amanda Plummer and Japanese star Yu Aoi.

I second that, no more vampire anything until SOMEBODY get the rights to release the rest of the Hellsing OVA anime movies in the US.

Imprint was a fun episode, a bit heavy on the torture porn, but nothing that Miike fans haven't seen before.

I don't even remember "Imprint" honestly. Either way, I don't know if I'll see this. I'm tired of vampires.

I concur Term. I also am tired of vampire movies. I will wait and watch the next 30 Days of Night, and hold hope they delve back into the Anne Rices vampire chronicles novels.I'd like to see "The Vampire Lestat" make it to the big screen. And after that maybe "Tale of the Body Thief" or "Memnoch the Devil".I'd really like to see "The Mayfair Witches" come to light as a film. Other than that,no vamps will be going into my dvd player. What I would like to see is some good werewolve movies. I actually watched Blood and Chocolate again to revisit that and possibly form a different opinion. And wtf ever happened to Dog Soldiers 2? Those were the best Lycan I have seen for awhile. Anyway....

Even "30 Days of Night" was just watchable. Not bad, but not a masterpiece. I'm so sick of vampires and zombies. They're just too easy.
