Paranormal Activity 2 Gets a Director

It's been a rough road for Paramount and the producers of Paranormal Activity 2 toward landing a director for the flick. The originally named Kevin Greutert was recalled by Lionsgate for Saw VII, but it's all paid off as today we know who'll be taking the reins from Oren Peli for the sequel.

According to Peli in a post on the Paranormal Activity website:

Paranormal Activity 2 Gets a Director

Tod Culpan Williams, aka Kip, is best known as the writer and director of The Door in the Floor. According to Variety Michael Perry penned the script.

Finally! Keep it here for more on Paranormal Activity 2 as it comes.

NEXT STORY

So basically all this movie needs is to not suck and it beats the original. Sorry, kids, Paranormal Activity was fucking awful. It was one of those internet horror shorts on youtube that get stretched out to feature length. The characters were unlikable, and the ending ten different shades of stupid. The movie got popular because it had an amazingly kickass PR campaign behind that tricked people into believing it was a grass-roots opportunity to build a horror film. The movie is going to be remembered more for its marketing campaign than its actual content.

Oren Peli is a nobody and will never be anybody. A true talented director nails it with his first movie. Peli just doesn't have any talent this movie should have been an internet thing.

What a dumbass statement.

Remember 10 years ago when everyone stupid person on the internet said the same thing about the Blair Witch guys? All those naysayers turned out to be equally full of shit when every wannabe indie director tried the same thing and fell flat on their asses.

Oren Peli is a "nobody?" Then why are you talking about him, genius?

You're barking up the wrong tree. I love every aspect of The Blair Witch Project. You can't compare these two movies, that would be supremely idiotic.

You must be on crack. Blair Witch was about NOTHING. At least Paranormal Activity had a story and some decent characters interacting. For the resources the director had it was a serious accomplishment.

Blair Witch was about a bunch of shaky cameras running through the woods and some screaming.

Sirand is correct. And no Oren Peli is NOT a nobody. He made an excellent horror film out of a small budget, it was picked up by a major studio and personally oversaw by Spielberg himself, there was a major online campaign and the movie goers made up their minds by making the movie a fucking hit. Like it or not, it was a hit! It became very talked about, garnered a lot of spoofs (the mark of any big movie), and continues to be looked at as the modern Blair Witch. Peli is now making money out the ass for creating a very excellent movie and is going on to direct more movies.

What have you done lately?

A "nobody"? Fuck off with that crap. Your arguments are baseless and pretty damn ignorant. I hate everything Eli Roth does, but to say he's a "nobody" would be the definition of sheer stupidity.

I can tell from a director's first indi film if they're something special. Spielberg, Aronofsky, Pter Jackson, Lucas, QT and the list goes on but does not include this hack who got lucky. Daughtery's first film Trick r' Treat blows PA away in every respect.

Besides everything you just said about PA I could say right back to you but insert Avatar.

Right because "Avatar" was a microbudget film made with a no name cast, right? Do you even realize what you say sometimes? Your ignorance is breathtaking.

Get off James Cameron's cock and admit you're wrong. As always your arguments are weak and meandering.

And you must be brain dead to be using the word hack so freely. A hack: "One who undertakes unpleasant or distasteful tasks for money or reward"

That's not Peli, brain trust.

I just cannot see how this could logically go anywhere else, other than the paranormal-slasher-movie route!

They definitely found a way to dick up The Blair Witch Project so have some faith.

If the first movie is shit there's no hope for a sequel being good.

Some sequels have been better then their originals...

Also, I have an idea or two of how to keep it going...

Spoilers
(They could totally go the route of the prequel as the entity has been around Katy since childhood...)

Yes, and I'm sure a sheet movie and oujia board catching on fire would be just as scary and thrilling. You know those Blu-rays with a fireplace or aquariams that you can get they should market paranormal Activity as one of those. Gauranteed to relax and put you to sleep.

Got the email a while ago. It's pretty cool news. I hope it turns out as good as the first movie. I'm open to the possibility that this could be a good sequel.
