According to The Hollywood ReporterJessica Chastain has signed on to play the female lead while the Avatar golden-boy will portray a local investigator probing a series of unsolved murders in industrial wastelands surrounding Gulf Coast refineries, where as many as 70 bodies have turned up over the past two decades. Together they wage a war against the unknown assailants. Chastain will play Worthington's ex-wife, a former rodeo queen who likewise is a homicide detective and also determined to the find the killers, with or without his help. The Fields -- which was originally called Texas Killing Fields -- will be directed by Ami Canaan Mann, daughter of Michael Mann, in a co-production between Bill Block's QED Intl. and Mann's Forward Pass shingle.
