SOTA Toys Unleashes the Most Wicked Dagon Collectible Ever

H.P. Lovecraft had one of the single most insane imaginations that has ever been instilled in a mortal man, and as a result his writings have remained as horrific, visceral, and relevant as when he first put pen to paper. We like to think even he himself would approve of this latest collectible that's hitting the market. Are you guys ready to come face to claw with Dagon?
SOTA Toys introduces the latest addition to the "SOTA Nightmares" product line, H.P. Lovecraft's Dagon. This 12-inch tall statue features incredible detail in its horrific presentation of nameless things that crawl on the ocean's slimy bed. I have to agree with Morgan. When my ex started getting into horror toys and action figures, buying things like his Cthluhu Statue, I was curious and started checking this stuff out with him. Fast forward and now I'm here for the first time. I'm not saying that every girl will just fall to pieces and rush to take up the hobby but its conversation starter at minimum. Otherwise...cut her off and move to the next girl.

Silly me for not frequenting the Horror Dating Site. Oh wait, there is no such animal. That's okay, there are other aspects of women to be appreciated.
P.S. The Burrowers was great. That deserved a big screen release.

Actually, if you Google 'Horror dating site' the top two entries appear to be dating sites geared toward horror fans.... horrorpassions.com and horrorsquad.com.
Or you could just get to know some of the girls on sites like this... I know some of the ladies on here are single. I met my husband on an earlier incarnation of this site. We've been married for 4 years now. There's actually quite a list of married couples on this board who met via the site and then later got to know each other better at convention meet-ups.
And yes, Burrowers was pretty much awesome.

It's funny how Lovecraft never went into great detail describing his horrors, yet we've been blessed with some of the coolest visual representations of his works in statue form. Lovecraft has an influence, for sure, but these designers also have a twisted imagination.

Alas, I must limit my horror gew gaw collection as this sort of thing can really put a damper on getting laid.
The vast majority of women have no read Lovecraft and are less than enthused by his concepts when you pass them on.

The women who read this site are a rare breed WIB. I have met many women who claimed to like horror films when I profess my love of them but have never actually met a woman who did. I don't hold that against them though.

Mind you many women can be convinced to enjoy horror (some). What you cannot get them to watch is Westerns.

I'm with Debi on this one. Not only do I love Lovecraft (I began my foray into the world of horror reading Lovecraft and Poe as a little girl), but I would love to have this little guy.
And I dig a good Western. The usually have a rugged, dusty, man riding a horse, with squint lines around his eyes from staring out across a desolate prairie, who's death with a pistol, could charm a rattlesnake and is polite to the ladies. What's not to like? *shiver* Makes me want to go watch 3:10 to Yuma again...

Okay, that's 2 women. But I sincerely doubt the vast majority of them will see my statue of Dagon and get so wet and weak in the knees they collapse on to the couch and say:
Imaginary Woman: "Oh, wow! Oh! Oh! Is that D-A-G-O-N? The hideous creature from beyond inspired by Lovecraft's amazing stories? I am so turned on now... oh Gods... wow, could you maybe wear him and some rubber tentacles so we could relive that scene from the Stuart Gordon movie?"
Nope, what I'd likely get is:
"Ummm, what the hell is that? You're how old? You decorate your place with a ...um... what is that?" [Crosses legs, looks longingly at the door.]
Ahem. This is why I will not purchase Dagon.

WIB and Morgan both liked The Burrowers and are awesome because of it! They were the only ones to mention it in the year end awards or whatever it was. Sometimes I wonder about the guys on this site.

You know.....I took "The Burrowers" off my Blockbuster queue because the majority of comments I read about the flick were negative. Not just here but on the Blockbuster site also. It seems though it does have a few fans so I think I'm going to give it a shot and put it back on my queue.

Well, as much as I love Lovecraft, I don't think I would fall into paroxysms of lust just because you had the figurine. But it might start an interesting conversation. Even if I wasn't in to Lovecraft, I would probably just ask what it was... and again with the conversation.
I think Deb's right. If you want girls that are into horror, you're obviously looking for 'em in the wrong place. :)
