Death Kappa Stomps Its Way Onto American DVD
It was just this past July that Japanese FX maestro Tomoo Haraguchi (Sakuya Yokaiden, Kibikichi) was preparing to bring us some old school giant monster action with Death Kappa. Almost no news since. Not even a trailer. No word on a Japanese release date. Nothing.
Which is why it is surprising to hear that Media Blasters has announced the American DVD release date when we can see the giant-sized Yokai demon stomp Tokyo and fight a rival daikaiju.
Haraguchi's goal for Death Kappa was to shun modern computer effects technology in favor of old-fashioned miniature work and man-in-suit technology. We will get to find out if he succeeded on May 25th when Media Blasters gives the film its Region 1 release. No other details are known, but the listing on Amazon indicates the film will be released widescreen and English dubbed.
Stay tuned for more details soon.
