How many here remember the bitchin' monster in a museum movie The Relic? Well, if you've never seen it or, like us, fondly remember it, there's cause to rejoice! Lionsgate will be laying this mutha down on Blu-ray come April 6th!

Sadly, the only extra to be found on the disc will be the trailer, but screw it, man! We'll take all the monster movies we can in glorious 1080p!

UPDATE: Just heard from Lionsgate with some really good news! As it turns out, earlier reports were wrong, and this package will be sporting some other extras!

  • Audio commentary with director Peter Hyams
  • The Filmmaker’s Lens: An Interview with Peter Hyams
  • Theatrical trailer

    Synopsis
"Plucky evolutionary biologist Dr. Margo Green (Penelope Ann Miller) joins forces with tough Chicago cop Lt. Vincent D'Agosta (Tom Sizemore) to unravel the mystery behind the horribly mangled corpses that keep popping up around her museum during an opening night gala. When they investigate further they find that there were mysterious deaths on the cargo ship that brought new exhibit pieces across the ocean. Sure enough, there's a monster to blame, sprung from a strange artifact of South American origin."

Okay, here I am. I can't say I loved the novel but it really was a lot stronger than the movie.

Then again I haven't seen this since it played in theatres and maybe my meory is too hazy to judge fairly.

Wow, I wonder why Paramount's been selling the distribution rights to several of their catalog titles to Lionsgate. I bought "The Phantom" on Blu-ray and that's another film produced by Paramount, yet the Blu-ray is under the aegis of Lionsgate. There are several other titles they've done this with as well, recently - "Hard Rain" and "Drop Zone", to name a few others.

Anyway I loved "The Relic" (both the novel and the film) so I'll definitely pick this up.

Hell yeah, love this flick. Had it on VHS when it was released....was even harder to see anything on that format than AVP:R!

    Fucking A!

I'm waiting for all the fans of the novel, which I am one but not like the rest, to come out of the woodwork and bitch about it.

I have to ask...I loved the book, but did you get the feeling that the afflicted scientist was mutating into a T-Rex before he was shot in the eye?

Although I missed Pendagrast(?) the FBI guy I have to say I enjoyed the movie more than the book.

    So there! :)
