Finish Them! A New Mortal Kombat on the Way!

Finish Them! A New Mortal Kombat on the Way!Many of us who are old enough to remember that special feeling we got when we first saw Sub Zero rip someone's spine out of his body are not likely to forget it. Ever. It was a stand-out moment in gaming ... and in our culture. The films? Not so much. The first Mortal Kombat movie nearly felt all right, while the second was quite simply -- shit. Can a third film finally offer fans what we've been dying for?

Bloody Disgusting got word today that Warner is looking to reboot the franchise with a completely new film with Oren Uziel in talks to write.

As a huge fan of the video game franchise that was unleashed in 1992, I'm more than game for a new film as Mortal Kombat has a very rich mythos and more than its fair share of extremely badass characters. There's just one thing -- can we get some of the series' trademark violence this time? MK without gore is like being served a hamburger bun with no meat. It's a glaring omission! Come on, guys ... give us a hard R. Or give us a PG-13 and then release a hard R or unrated cut on Blu-ray and DVD.

Do this and we'll perform a friendship! We promise!

When we first saw Mortal Kombat in theaters, we thought it was amazing. While I give Anderson a very hard time, he did succeed in sticking to the game very closely. However it was PG-13 so much of the gore glory is noticeably MIA and the movie simply hasn't aged well at all.

MK II was awful beyond awful.

I hope this reboot is hardcore and faithful to the games.

I'm with Creepy on this one. I'll never forget the first time I played Mortal Kombat and quickly learned all the fatalities. The ante was raised with MKII and I always dreamed of a MK movie. Then it happened. And it sucked. I'd love to see them finally get it right. So many opportunities, so much potential, lies in the MK universe. Stay true to the game, make it R Rated, give us Final Destination-like fatalities, and I'd be there opening night.

Give us PG-13 again, and I'll catch it on Netflix.

Uncle Creepy wins! Fatality!
I'm not even going to bother if it's PG-13.

I don't know... I still get vomit shivers just thinking about the second movie, but the first one was cool, lots of sick moments. Im gonna hold my breath and hope for the best!

Creepy, you just made my fucking day. I love Mortal Kombat (the games, not the movies) and I've been dying to see if Hollywood can get it right. I'm throwing my vote out for the movie to be the Sub-Zero Mythologies Storyline. I would love to see Sub-Zero and Scorpion rightfully get it on in a true fight.

Won't happen, but you've always got your dreams.
