Ghostbusters 3 Director Confirmed!
Finally, after months of speculation and "news" that turned out to be just rumors and wishful thinking, the long-awaited third installment in the much beloved Ghostbusters franchise is moving forward with a director in place and confirmation that plans are to start shooting it this year.
MTV chatted last night with Ivan Reitman, who, [when] asked if he would be returning to direct Ghostbusters 3, answered with a simple and unequivocal "Yes." Hallelujah!
When asked about exactly what he might be directing, Reitman said that the script from "Year One" writers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky is in and that a second draft is currently in the works. "They have delivered a draft," Reitman said of the script's progress. "We are working our way through another draft... good work is being done and all of us have our fingers crossed."
Reitman was all business again when the talk turned back to the schedule. "I hope to start shooting in this next year," he said, giving weight to [Harold] Ramis' recent comments about a planned 2011 release.
Again we say -- Hallelujah! Keep it here for more Ghostbusters 3 news as it comes.

Though it's not even out of the gate yet, Platinum Dunes' remake of the Wes Craven classic A Nightmare on Elm Street is causing lots of buzz -- both bad and good. Fan reactions were pretty much split when the film's trailer hit. One of the major concerns was the sound of Freddy's voice. We admit it did seem kind of off. Then, when news of the reshoots came, things didn't get much better in terms of being confident that we're going to get the movie we want. Finally someone's addressing these issues.

The original Ghostbusters is a classic and I've always loved the second one, even though it does have flaws. Hoping the third one isn't a Kingdom of the Crystal Skull scenario.

Unfortunately, with the constant 'young ghostbusters' murmurings over the last few months, I fear it will be just that!

I love both Ghostbusters films and I just hope this third one delivers another quality entry.
I just hope the original Ghostbuster characters are more than just cameos here.

This could be an excellent sequel if done right. I hope they can breath new life in to the franchise.
