New Games from NECA - Gremlins: Gizmo's Great Escape & Freddy vs. Jason: Forest of Fear

Back in September NECA acquired the majority of the assets of WizKids, Inc., from The Topps Company, Inc., including the award-winning Clix family of games. What does that mean for horror fans? Two potentially awesome new games: Gremlins: Gizmo's Great Escape and Freddy vs. Jason: Forest of Fear. Read on for more details on each.

The Gremlins are based on the Clix sculpts from NECA's figure line, and Freddy vs. Jason looks like a direct re-release of the HorrorClix set, now repackaged to attract younger players. Both are movement-based strategy games that are easy to learn and quick to play.

Gremlins: Gizmo's Great Escape:

Gizmo has been cornered in the kitchen by a gang of angry Gremlins. Play as Gizmo and try to make your way to safety, or play as Stripe and try to catch that pesky fur-ball once and for all!

Gremlins: Gizmo’s Great Escape is a collector’s edition game that includes everything two players need to play right out of the package. It contains six high quality collectible 3D miniatures, game cards, and game map.

Freddy vs. Jason: Forest of Fear:

Play as Freddy Krueger or Jason Voorhees, the two most horrifying movie villains of all time. Hunt your victims through a nightmarish maze of woods.

Freddy vs. Jason: Forest of Fear is also a collector’s edition game that includes everything two players need to play right out of the package. It contains six high quality collectible 3D miniatures, game cards, game tokens, and game map.

it looks to me like the gremlins set is a mock up of the pictures, too. i wasn't sure at first but then i got a message and seeing how i wasn't the only one to notice it looked like photoshop was involved on the gremlins, i'm guessing gizmo got the playboy treatment. support your local horror and send NECA a message that the freddy and jason set kicks butt.

it's just the picture that is bad. horrid, actually. if it's a direct reissue of the original FvsJ set than the sculpts are excellent for such small pieces. you would be quite surprised by all the horrorclix sculpts. i am sure that is the main reason why a company like NECA took notice in the first place. all the clix are amazing in fact. i'm surprised more people that collect horror figures are not familiar with them as detailed as they all are. i don't know what's up with that picture, but unless they melted the original molds for the figures the set comes from that is definitely NOT what they look like at all.

The Gremlins look great, I'd buy them and I'm not even a fan of the movies.

FvsJ on the other hand look like something you'd get out of a ghetto gumball machine. Absolutely horrid.

Yeah I agree there. It's a shame the figurines don't look better. Maybe it's just the picture but they look like rushed jobs. The Gremlins pieces are more detailed.
