I guess I go against the grain when I say that I prefer to like most of the characters in a slasher flick. I’ve never been of the mind that you should root for the killer (the kills can still be fun/surprising without watching a collection of degenerates), and I’ll be curious to see how the recently announced Comedown goes about itself. After all, a story about a psychopath targeting trespassers could certainly go either way...
Menhaj Huda directs the film, centering around a group of six teenagers who sneak into a decayed tower block with the intent of setting up a radio signal for a pirate radio station. Soon they’re stalked and killed by a disgruntled resident who doesn’t take too kindly to unwelcome visitors.
Martin Compston (pictured), Adam Deacon, Red Madrell and Duane Henry have been tapped to star in the upcoming UK production, which has yet to begin shooting.
Sounds like a solid premise providing that the filmmakers remember that it takes more than a few bits of creative gore to make a slasher movie. Make us give a shit about the people we’re stuck with for the running time, and I’ll be a happy camper. And don’t forget the boobs and blood, too!
