Terror Tweets: NOTLD: Origins Casting News and Area 51 Update
Between the Paranormal Activity midnight screenings that took place last night and Dread Central's Fantastic Fest activities that are ongoing in Austin, TX, this weekend, we're stretched a little thin so thought we'd just cut to the chase with the latest developments on two projects that we're keeping a close eye on: Zebediah de Soto's 3D Night of the Living Dead: Origins and Oren Peli's Area 51. Most of the info on both came to us via Twitter.
First up, following her tease that she was "meeting with the director for 'Night of the Living Dead'" and "[I] need my fans to put out a good vibe for me and say a little prayer", Danielle Harris confirmed that "All you're good luck wishes worked! Guess who's gonna be Barbara???!!" We couldn't be happier for Danielle -- and Zeb, lucky fella -- and think this project is getting off to an excellent start. In addition, a little birdie told us last night that none other than Joe "Captain Rhodes" Pilato is circling the part of Cooper. We should have official confirmation on that soon and will keep you posted on further developments with Night of the Living Dead: Origins (original story here).
In the meantime be sure to follow Danielle, aka @halloweengal, so you don't miss out on her other adorable tweets like "Michael, vamps, and now zombies!!"
As we learned way back in November of last year, Paranormal Activity mastermind Oren Peli's next project is entitled Area 51, and as reported in the LA Times' Haunted History of Paranormal Activity, it's an "original, found-video thriller". From recent conversations with Oren we knew pre-production was well under way, and today Production Weekly provided a few more details: "Oren Peli will begin filming his supernatural thriller 'Area 51,' mid-October on location in Utah & Las Vegas."
You can be sure we'll be keeping close tabs on the film's progress, and you can keep tabs on all the latest production news and breakdowns by following @prodweek.
