Filmmaker Robert Beaucage’s feature film Spike (which won "Best of the Fest" at 2008’s Edinburgh International Film Festival) is set to have its West Coast premiere on Saturday, October 3, at 3:30 pm as part of Shriekfest 2009.
The flick, shot in 2007 in and around Los Angeles, is the sole entry in the fest’s category of "Gothic Fairytale" and stars Edward Gusts in the titular role of a rather prickly and dangerous woodland creature. Here's the synopsis: A young woman must rescue her friends from a bizarre beast who won’t stop tormenting them until he has claimed her as his own in this dark fairytale that’s not for the faint of heart.
Shriekfest runs October 1st-4th at Raleigh Studios, 5300 Melrose in Hollywood, CA. Click here to purchase tickets to the screening, and then visit the official Spike website for more.
