The Envelope Please ... 2009 Saturn Award Winners!

35th Annual Saturn Awards Winners AnnouncedThere weren't a lot of horror films honored during the 35th Annual Saturn Awards, presented by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films, but those that were certainly are deserving.

As you might expect, The Dark Knight scored the majority of the night's wins, including Action/Adventure/Thriller Film, Supporting Actor for Heath Ledger's portrayal of the Joker, Writer (Christopher and Jonathan Nolan), Music (Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard), and Special Effects with Iron Man not too far behind (Science Fiction Film, Director [Jon Favreau], and Actor [Robert Downey, Jr.]).

Our favorite genre won in the following categories:

Horror Film: Hellboy II: The Golden Army
International Film: Let the Right One In
Television Series: "Lost" (fringy, I know, but definitely deserving)
Supporting Actress on Televison: Jennifer Carpenter ("Dexter")
Guest Starring Role on Television: Jimmy Smits ("Dexter")
DVD Release: Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer
Series on DVD: "Moonlight" (take that, Twilight!)
DVD Classic Film Release: Psycho, Universal Legacy Series
DVD Special Edition Release: Stephen King’s The Mist two-disc Special Edition
Life Career Award: Lance Henriksen

For the full rundown, check out Variety or the Saturn Awards official site, which wasn't updated with the list of winners at the time of this writing but should be shortly.

NEXT STORY

I am sorry I bet I will get attack by some people. But I don't care. But Hellboy 2 was not a horror film. It had elements but it was not a horror film. I have to call bullshit on that one. It was more of a fantasy film.

Lance Heriksen defintely desreves the Lifetime acheiveiment award.

I totally agree, fantasy would be way more appropriate where DelTorros Hellboy II is concerned. It also fits under romance comedy as well. Just sayin'.
