Is Another Look Behind the Mask on the Way?
I wasn't quite as big a fan of Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon (reviews here) as some of the folks in the Dread Central offices, but I'm still pretty stoked to hear that a sequel is possibly in the works.
The boys at Icons of Fright recently checked in with Behind the Mask scribe David J. Stieve, who indicated there has been "concrete interest in making a sequel soon" and added that "it's legitimate enough to get (director) Scott (Glosserman) and I working on the story and plotting it out."
While he couldn't get into specifics yet, Stieve did indicate that considering how the filmmakers had to adjust their own expectations "in the wake of how things unfolded after the release of the film," so, too, would the sequel's "parallels to real life continue."
In an encouraging acknowledgment of how often many sequels fail to live up to their source material, he also adds, "Scott and I are painfully aware of the sequel trap, of treading the same ground again with nothing more than a bigger budget. That's not what's going to happen. Things didn't go the way Leslie wanted them to. So he, being Leslie, regroups and plays the hand he's been dealt."
Sounds like Stieve and Glosserman are definitely on the right path. You can keep tabs on their progress via the film's MySpace and Facebook pages, and, proving that he's no stranger to modern technology, Leslie Vernon himself is on Twitter!

Toledo, OH - Do houses have memories? Why is it that in some places, people can feel an electric energy, can feel the house live around them, while in others, there seems to be nothing but walls and a roof? Truly, some houses are unassuming but have witnessed extraordinary events. Others, though grand in scale, lack the love and passion to give the house a personality, a life, of its own.

Can not wait!
