Thanks for tuning in to Radio 66.6! Everything went smoothly for the first week so I’m back with another dose of music news. If you have a tip, feel free to submit it. Be sure to check back every Monday to stay up-to-date on the latest music headlines.
NEWS
Drummer Bill Ward will apparently not be participating in Black Sabbath‘s upcoming reunion tour and album, as he has deemed the contract “unsignable.” Read Ward’s statement on the matter here and the rest of the band’s announcement here.
Knut have gone on an indefinite hiatus. The Swiss sludge metal/post-hardcore band formed in 1994 and most recently released Wonder in 2010 on Hydra Head Records.
Eulogy Recordings has signed Kid Gorgeous (featuring members of Every Time I Die, Buried Alive, Anterrabae). The band will release an EP entitled Blue Romance – their first material since reforming in 2010 – with three new tracks, a re-recorded classic and a cover later this year.
Touche Amore vocalist Jeremy Bolm has teamed up with Deathwish Inc. to launch a multimedia label called Secret Voice. The first release will be a self-titled 7″ EP from Single Mothers.
The Word Alive drummer Justin Salinas and keyboardist Dusty Riach have left the band. Despite the line-up changes, the remaining band members will still hit the studio this week as planned to begin working on new material. Read the band’s statement here.
Death By Stereo have have signed with Viking Funeral Records. The band’s sixth full-length album, Black Sheep of the American Dream, is planned for a spring release.
Between the Buried and Me are scheduled to hit the studio with producer Jamie King in May to record a new album.
Guitarist/vocalist Evan Pharmakis and drummer Chris Campbell have left Vanna. Joel Pastuszak has joined on guitar/vocal duty, while the band will use fill-in drummers for the time being. Watch a statement from the band here.
Nachtmystium have re-signed with Century Media Records. The band released their two most recent full-length albums through the label, and they are expected to have another one out later this year.
Decoder have parted ways with vocalist Spencer Pearson “due to recurring issues with drugs and alcohol.” Read the band’s statement, in which they air a bit of dirty laundry, here.
Harley Flanagan (ex-Cro-Mags) has signed with Souther Lord Recordings for several upcoming releases. The first of them will be the new Harley’s War album.
The Dillinger Escape Plan frontman Greg Puciato is apparently dating porn star Jenna Haze. Good for him!
Century Media Records has signed French death metal act NecroWretch. The band will begin writing their debut full length soon.
Ryan Parrish and Kris Norris (ex-Darkest Hour), Kristen Randall (ex-Winds of Plague), Dave Sheldon (ex-Annihilator) and Pat Kavanagh (Threat Signal) have come together to form A Cancerous Affair. Watch an introductory video, which also features song clips, here.
The 20th anniversary reissue of Pantera‘s 1992 classic Vulgar Display of Power will feature a lost track entitled “Piss.” A release date has not yet been determined.
It appears that former vocalist Jesse Leach has re-joined Killswitch Engage. Expect an official announcement soon.
RELEASES
Iron Maiden will release a live concert entitled En Vivo! on March 27 via Universal Music Enterprises. It will be available on Blu-ray, 2-DVD set, 2-CD set and double picture vinyl. The concert was filmed using 23 cameras on April 10, 2011 in front of over 50,000 fans at the Estadio Nacional, Santiago. Full details on the release can be found here.
Wretched will release their third full-length album, Son of Perdition, on March 27 via Victory Records. They are currently in the studio recording it with producer Jamie King. This marks the first release with Adam Cody (ex-Glass Casket) on vocals.
Firewind will release a new album, Few Against Many, in North America on May 22 via DisManic/E1 Music. The Greek power metal group features current Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Gus G.
DragonForce will release their fifth studio album, The Power Within, on April 17 via Roadrunner Records. This marks their first release with new singer Marc Hudson. The artwork and tracklisting can be seen here.
Naglfar will release Téras on March 27 via Century Media Records. You can see the tracklisting and cover art here. This will be the Swedish melodic black metal outfit’s first release since 2007.
John 5 (Rob Zombie, ex-Marilyn Manson) will release his sixth solo album, God Told Me To, on April 10. The album will be “half acoustic and half metal.” You can see the cover art, which was painted by Rob Zombie, here.
Deluxe editions of Dio‘s Holy Diver, Last In Line and Sacred Heart will be released on March 24. They will each feature the original CD along with a bonus disc containing additional material and an expanded booklet with notes from Malcolm Dome and has been endorsed by Dio’s widow Wendy Dio.

Listen to a new Goatwhore song entitled “Parasitic Scriptures of the Sacred Word” here. This is the third single from their upcoming album, Blood for the Master, which comes out on February 14 via Metal Blade Records.
Listen to a new Modern Day Escape song entitled “The Syndicate” here. It comes from the band’s sophomore album, Under the Gun, which will be out on March 27.
Listen to a new Cannibal Corpse song entitled “Scourge of Iron” here. This is the third track from the band’s forthcoming album, Torture, which comes out on March 13 via Metal Blade Records.
Listen to a clip of a new Tenacious D song entitled “Rize of the Fenix” here. It seems that they will release an album of the same name in May. They might not quite fit in with the other bands covered on Radio 66.6, but this is the first time that Jack Black and Kyle Gass have released new music since 2006’s The Pick of Destiny.

Watch Comeback Kid‘s music video for “Do Yourself a Favor” here. It’s a well-shot video for a great hardcore song, if you ask me.
Watch Die Antwoord‘s music video for “I Fink U Freeky” here. Like everything the South African hip hop artists do, it’s absolutely bizarre – and worth watching.
Watch Landmine Marathon‘s music video for “Beaten and Left Blind” here. Chicks get bloody as the video lives up to the song title.
Watch We Came As Romans‘ music video for “Understand What We’ve Grown To Be” here. It is the final part in their music video series directed by Travis Kopach that began with “Mis//Understanding” and “Just Keep Breathing.”
Watch Soen‘s music video for “Savia” here. The band features former Opeth drummer Martin Lopez and former Death bassist Steve DiGiorgio, but they sound a lot like Tool. Their debut album, Cognitive, comes out this month in Europe, but a North American release has yet to be determined.
Watch The Darkness‘ music video for “Nothin’s Gonna Stop Us” here. You can also grab a free MP3 of the song here. This is the first new music from the band in over 6 years. Did you catch the band in Samsung’s Super Bowl ad?
Watch Rottness’ music video for “As Far as the Fist Can Go” here It’s an interesting clip from the Mexican goregrinders, but it is definitely not safe for work. Director David Hall described it as “a psychedelic and grotesque journey to the center of a phantasmagoric pig squeal.”
Watch Puscifer‘s (the side project of Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan) music video for “Telling Ghosts here. This is the second single off of the band’s 2011 album, Conditions of My Parole.
Watch The World We Knew‘s music video for “The Endless” here. It stars former WWE/ECW/TNA wrestler Tommy Dreamer.
Watch Emmure‘s music video for “Drug Dealer Friend” here. The band’s new album, Slave to the Game, comes out on April 10 on Victory Records – although this track is from their previous effort.
Watch Foxy Shazam‘s music video for “I Like It” here. These guys are like a modern incarnation of Queen but stranger. Their new album, The Church of Rock and Roll, is out now on I.R.S. Records.

The 14th annual Punk Rock Bowling & Music Festival will take place on May 25-28 in Las Vegas, NV. Over 60 bands will perform throughout the weekend, and the first five acts have been revealed: Rancid, NOFX, Pennywise, The Adicts and The Briefs. Details can be found here.
