Dread Central Presents Slate Goes International!
We’ve been working hard to bring you guys the very best films we can for the magical endeavor that has been Dread Central Presents, and today we’re ready to share some really cool news with you all. Epic Pictures, Dread Central Presents, and MovieCloud have joined forces as a means to bring the DCP slate to Taiwan!
Exclusively reported by Screen Daily out of EFM, we are officially going international!
“We have been very successful releasing Epic’s genre films in Taiwan for many years now,” MovieCloud’s Wayne Chung said. “When the Dread Central Presents label was announced, we immediately saw the potential and wanted to be the first to join the label internationally. I’m sure that many others will follow.”
“MovieCloud is a great partner to represent the brand and expand its reach to fans in Asia,” Epic co-founder Shaked Berenson, who led the acquisition of Dread Central Media last year, said.
Even cooler… we are NOT stopping there! Epic is in advanced discussions for further output deals in the UK, Latin America, and Germany after the company announced at AFM its plan to release 12 films theatrically a year and up to 24 on demand via the label.
This is literally a dream come true for those of us here at Dread Central as we’ve been working our tails off for over a decade to bring something like this to fruition. We’ve never been prouder. Big thanks to everyone who has helped make this happen!

It’s that scary time of the month again when a new Dread Central Presents film makes its way into theaters, and February’s offering is the supernatural scare-a-thon The Lodgers (review). Read on for cities, showtimes, and tickets.
Directed by Brian O’Malley and starring Charlotte Vega and Bill Milner, the film made its worldwide premiere at 2017’s Toronto International Film Festival and has since won many awards across multiple festivals.

In this Gothic horror tale, a family curse confines orphaned twins Rachel (Charlotte Vega) and Edward (Bill Milner) to their home as punishment for their ancestors’ sins. Bound to the rules of a haunting childhood lullaby, the twins must never let any outsiders inside the house, must be in their rooms by the chime of midnight, and must never be separated from one another. Breaking any of these three rules will incur the wrath of a sinister presence that inhabits the house after midnight.
While Edward is committed to this ill-fated life, he’s becoming more unhinged due to the fact that Rachel is not. Smitten by a local soldier (Eugene Simon), Rachel grows skeptical and begins to rebel, desperate to escape the oppression and misery of their captivity.
Dread Central Presents Welcomes To Hell and Back: The Kane Hodder Story!
Hot off the announcement by the fine folks over at EW, we want to tell you all that Epic Pictures Group and Dread Central Presents have acquired and will be releasing To Hell and Back: The Kane Hodder Story (review)!
Directed by Derek Dennis Herbert and produced by Andrew Barcello, the documentary features interviews with Robert Englund, Bruce Campbell, Adam Green, Cassandra Peterson, Danielle Harris, Harrison Smith, Sid Haig, Bill Moseley, and Michael Aloisi, as well as Hodder himself. The film is a deep and personal dive into the world of one of horror’s most passionate and enduring names.
Peeling back the curtain on some of Hodder’s most difficult experiences, To Hell and Back is, as I stated in my review, “Inspiring, life-affirming, and beautifully crafted…,” leaving me to surmise that if Kane could “…endure such pain throughout life and find beauty and joy in facing death time after time, perhaps we can too.”
Herbert tells Dread Central, “Dread Central Presents is the perfect distributor to release our film, To Hell and Back: The Kane Hodder Story, because of how ingrained Kane Hodder is in the horror genre. The passion and dedication of Dread Central through the years is exactly why they are the perfect fit for this horror adjacent, human-interest documentary. Making this film was a labor of love that took nearly two years of filming to complete, but we’re very proud of the results and know that audiences worldwide will love Kane’s story of overcoming bullying, a horrifying burn accident, and building his career from the ground up. I hope fans will see what it took for Kane to become the man he is today and help them with similar struggles in their own lives. It’s always easier to get through something when you have someone you admire in your corner, and that’s what Kane does in this story. He is raw and rough and gives you a film that you’ll be laughing, crying, and cheering throughout!”
“When Shaked [Berenson] originally pitched us the concept of showcasing the diversity within the horror genre, we knew that we want to include documentaries,” comments Jon Condit, Co-Founder of Dread Central Media.
Berenson, Epic’s Co-Founder and Chairman of Dread Central Media, states, “Adding Derek’s documentary to our slate of feature films highlights our commitment to that mission.”
To Hell and Back: The Kane Hodder Story will be released this July.
