Hellboy Artist Paul Gerrard Creates Horrific Masters of the Universe Illustrations

News broke last December that Sony Pictures had hired David S. Goyer to direct their Masters of the Universe reboot, and if that doesn’t get you pumped up then this probably will. Artist Paul Gerrard, who is currently working on the upcoming Hellboy movie, created a series of horror-themed illustrations of Masters of the Universe characters, and the results are both terrifying and strangely beautiful. Thanks to ComicBook.com for the heads up.

Gerrard’s previous film credits include Battle Los Angeles, Wrath of the Titans, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Seventh Son, and Gods of Egypt, and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, and you can stay updated with his work on his official website.

There’s probably never going to be a Masters of the Universe horror film, but at least now we know what it would look like. Although come to think of it, seeing a shirtless Dolph Lundgren screaming “I have the power” was a pretty terrifying sight in itself. We’ll find out next year if we can forgive Goyer for Blade: Trinity, as Sony’s will release Masters of the Universe on December 18th 2019. Until then, be sure to let us know in the comments which of Gerrard’s horrific illustrations is your favorite.
