Brand New Hellraiser Graphic Novel Coming This Spring

The Hellraiser franchise has enjoyed life in different forms throughout the years.  Starting off as the novella The Hellbound Heart, it would then go on to become one of the longest running film series in horror history, with the latest instalment, Judgement, set for 2017.

But throughout the years the mythology has also been explored and expanded in spin-off novels, short stories and, of course, comic books.  And now thanks to Clive Barker’s Seraphim Inc., we’ll be getting more of the latter this coming spring.

According to the fine folks over at The Clive Barker Podcast, the news was broken at Stan Lee’s LA Comicon Comikaze panel.  The new anthology will feature stories from a host of exciting talent, including Ben Mears and Rebekah and Dave McKendry.

Check out all the information below, and be sure to watch the trailer with the outstanding Doug Bradley voiceover.

From the Press Release:
Clive Barker’s Seraphim, Inc. proudly announced Hellraiser: Anthology, an original graphic novel based within the world of Clive Barker’s Hellraiser, at a panel at Stan Lee’s LA Comic-Con. Seraphim Ink, Seraphim’s publishing branch, will be producing the comic in-house and distributing it via Barker’s online store,, both as a hardcover print edition and as a DRM-free PDF download.

The graphic novel, due out in Spring of 2017, will be Seraphim’s first solo foray into the world of comics, and will feature several short stories from several creative teams. Seraphim’s Creative Executive, Ben Meares (main contributing writer of Hellraiser: Bestiary), is handling the editing and production of the anthology, as well as serving as its main writer. Joining him on the writing duties will be Seraphim’s Christian Francis (Hellraiser: Bestiary), Blumhouse’s Rebekah and Dave McKendry and POW! Entertainment’s Matt Murray. Mark Alan Miller, the Vice-President of Seraphim, Inc., as well as the writer of Next Testament and The Steam Man, will be contributing a short prose story that will be featured within the anthology as well.

Daniele Serra (Hellraiser: Bestiary, Fade to Black, Joe Lansdale’s I Tell You It’s Love), Sam Shearon (X-Files, Clive Barker’s Books of Blood motion comic), Jim Terry (The Crow: Skinning the Wolves, Sundowners) and up-and coming artist Riley Schmitz are amongst the artists contributing to the anthology.

“We chose to publish this anthology in-house for one main reason,” said Seraphim, Inc.’s Vice-President Mark Miller. “It frees us to tell stories that are entirely uncensored. Hellraiser, as a film and comic book franchise, has always needed to be censored to one degree or another. By producing this comic in-house, and distributing it straight to Hellraiser fans via our web store, the wide array of talented people on the book are free to tell the stories they want to tell, and dig as deep into their twisted imaginations as they please. And, let me tell you, the experience has been utterly freeing for all involved, and that creative freedom bleeds through the pages of this anthology.”

Hellraiser: Anthology is will be available on in Spring 2017.

Podcast/Book Series Welcome to Night Vale Being Adapted for TV

Following in the footsteps of “Lore,” another popular podcast/book series is on its way to the small screen! That’s right, kids! Pretty soon we’ll be heading to a sleepy yet quite mad little place where your eyes and ears have been thoroughly spookified! “Welcome to Night Vale.”

Deadline is reporting that the podcast is being adapted by FX for the small screen in conjunction with Sony Pictures. Joseph Fink and Jeffrey Cranor, creators of the podcast and authors of the franchise books Welcome to Night Vale and It Devours!, will executive produce the series alongside Gennifer Hutchison (“Better Call Saul”).

The site goes on to report that in addition, Harper Perennial, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers, has signed up Fink and Cranor for new script books of Seasons 3 and 4 of the Welcome to Night Vale podcast. The companion volumes feature guest introductions by the authors and cast members and original illustrations by series artist Jessica Hayworth.

We’ve never met anyone in the industry who understands our world and approach to storytelling better than Gennifer does,” said Fink and Cranor. “We are lucky to be working with her, as well as FX – a network with a long history of creating excellent television.

So many readers have passionately embraced the Welcome to Night Vale novels and script books,” says Amy Baker, Vice-President and Associate Publisher of Harper Perennial. “I can’t wait to see the same enthusiasm for what I’m sure will be an amazing television series from Gennifer and FX.

Welcome to Night Vale is a twice-monthly podcast in the style of community updates for the small desert town of Night Vale, featuring local weather, news, announcements from the Sheriff’s Secret Police, mysterious lights in the night sky, dark hooded figures with unknowable powers, and cultural events.

Fink and Cranor created the podcast in 2012, having met through the anarchic, award-winning theater group the New York Neo-Futurists.

Chambers and have done stories from Bram Stoker and H.P. Lovecraft. Today, we’re thrilled to help them announce their new project, which is a full cast audio play of M.R. James’ Casting the Runes. Below is an audio sample, which give you a taste of the magnificent scope of the production.

Starring David Warner (The Omen, Star Trek, In The Mouth of Madness), produced by Bleak December, and adapted by Anthony D.P. Mann, the limited edition vinyl will be released on January 26th with the first edition of 500 copies to be pressed on 150-gram colored vinyl and housed in deluxe heavy weight gatefold tip-on jacket with newly commissioned art by Adam Burke.

Speaking about lending his voice to Casting the Runes, Warner states, “I was brought up only with radio, so it means so much to me to be able to imagine for myself what is being presented. And we can all imagine differently what is being presented to us via audio and radio, and that’s what the magic of it is – our own imaginations are able to take over. As an actor (and a voice actor, sometimes), I’m so glad to be able to contribute to peoples’ visual take on whatever it is we’re presenting. I just think it’s so invaluable, you know – the images and dreams in the mind.
