The Halloween season has just gotten a lot less scary as Paramount announced late today that two of its highest profile horror franchises have been delayed.

F. Javier Gutiérrez’s Rings has been moved from its October 28th release date to February 3, 2017, and the road back to Crystal Lake has gotten even longer.

Friday the 13th, which was originally scheduled to come out January 13, 2017, has been moved to Friday, October 13, 2017. Last we reported, Breck Eisner was in talks to direct the slasher with Prisoners‘ Aaron Guzikowski writing the script.

The film is, according to Platinum Dunes co-producer Brad Fuller, “an origin-ish story,” but that seems to change every few months so who knows?

Stay tuned.
