Exclusive First Word on and BTS Photos from Psychological Thriller/Horror Noir Psycho Therapy

The new short film Psycho Therapy wrapped production over the weekend, and we have the exclusive first word along with some behind-the-scenes stills from the psychological thriller/horror noir to share. You’ll see a few familiar names both in front of and behind the camera so dig in!

Psycho Therapy is a short psychological drama/thriller/horror noir film written and directed by Staci Layne Wilson (Fetish Factory) and starring Brooke Lewis (iMurders) and Ricky Dean Logan (Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare). The cast also includes talented genre newcomer Emily Sansiri (Last Flight).

Psycho Therapy is brought to us by executive producer Brooke Lewis and the producing team of Bryce Campbell (Smokehouse), Brooke Lewis (“Ms. Vampy”), and Staci Layne Wilson (The Fiancé). The gifted production crew also includes co-executive producer Ricky Dean Logan (Back to the Future Part II), cinematographer and editor Stefan Colson (The Fiancé), casting director Alison Buck (Pig), sound mixer Eric Miller (Psychopaths), composer Michael Trapp (Toxic Tutu), producer’s assistant Kevin Faust (“Hell’s Kitchen”), makeup special effects by Ken Culver (The Haunting in Connecticut), makeup and hair by Rachel Lund Olson (Blood Relatives), lighting by Sam Wilkerson (The Fiancé), still photography by Aaron Kai (Stroke: The Art of Kai), and script supervision by Molly Gray (Fatal Encounters).

“Psycho Therapy was one of the most challenging projects of my acting and producing careers but came together like film magic! A few months ago, I had coffee with Staci and shared with her that my creative soul was in need of an intense, layered role to play. We chatted about how much we love De Palma and his films like Dressed to Kill. A few days later she sent me one of the most incredible roles (Tonia) that I have ever had the opportunity to work on as an actress! To have a talented writer and director like Staci create something specifically for you is a gift in this crazy film business. I knew we had to see this brought to film life! It soon took on a life of its own, and my dear friend, Bryce, signed on to produce with us, and my manager, Alison, and I had an idea to cast the super talented Ricky. Then, Staci and I were dying to get Stefan on board, and the rest is short film history!” – Brooke Lewis

“I am very proud of Psycho Therapy — it was a dream come true for me to have the creative freedom to make something that looks so beautiful on a subject that can be so ugly. I was going for an old-school, noir/De Palma vibe, and our DP, Stefan Colson, brought that to life in a most compelling way. So did the cast. I’ve worked with Brooke Lewis before so I know what’s she’s capable of, but as the character Tonia, I saw a whole new dimension to her. And I think horror fans are going to be pleasantly surprised to see Ricky Dean Logan straying from his comfort zone: Dr. Walsh is unlike any character he’s played before.” – Staci Layne Wilson

Psycho Therapy is in post-production and will hit both mainstream and genre festivals in 2017.

“We’re almost out of time.”

When emotionally exhausted Tonia (Lewis) visits her esteemed psychiatrist, Dr. Walsh (Logan), to discuss her husband’s infidelity, the therapy session takes an unexpected turn. Tonia does not respond well to her doctor’s advice, and he finds himself locked in a game of psychological hide-and-seek with a painfully disturbed patient.

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost Are Truth Seekers Playing by Slaughterhouse Rulez

One of our favorite pairings of stars from the last twenty years is no doubt that of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. Their chemistry is undeniable, and if you didn’t get enough of it in “Spaced,” Shawn of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, The World’s End, and Paul, you’re about to get a bellyful of it on both big and small screens.

Variety is reporting that Frost and Pegg will be starring in “Truth Seekers,” a half-hour comedy-horror TV show about a three-person paranormal investigation team.

According to the site, each installment of “Truth Seekers” will focus on a paranormal incident, a setup with clear monster-of-the-week potential. “Each episode is going to be an adventure, a potential haunting or something,” Pegg says. “It’ll start as a very parochial idea, a very small business venture for these people, but it will expand as the series goes on to be something far more global. It’s a language everyone understands, the mystery of the unknown. Shaun of the Dead was a very parochial story set in North London, and somehow it managed to get this global reach because everyone understands the language of zombie movies.

That’s not all, though… the pair are also working on the feature film Slaughterhouse Rulez, a horror-comedy now in post-production. Directed by Crispian Mills and set in a well-to-do public school, the movie is “very satirical, very much about the U.K. selling itself off,” Pegg says. “It’s about fracking as well, and that unleashes some awful subterranean demon.

Both of these projects will be released under their Stolen Picture shingle. Stay tuned, kids! More as we get it!
