DreamWorks Keeping Newly Acquired Property Under Locke & Key

More woes for Dimension. It’s like they’re having a fire sale over there. Yet another one of their properties has set sail for calmer waters … the live action adaptation of the Joe Hill horror comic Locke & Key.

Our amigos over at Latino Review broke the news tonight that Dimension lost the rights to the property and that “writers and producers extraordinaire, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (Latino!) have been granted the rights and will produce the project through their DreamWorks deal. They will make LOCKE and KEY into the next big franchise, te juro!”

For the uninitiated Locke & Key tells the tale of three children who become the caretakers of Keyhouse, a mansion in New England that is full of secrets and magic. The trio discover special doors which take them to different places, give them powers, and even alter gender and skin color. Behind one door is a dangerously violent creature and you know it’s only a matter of time before it gets out!

Look for more soon. In the interim, dig on the Locke & Key comic boom trailer from IDW below.
