The time has come for Daniel Stamm's The Last Exorcism (Blu-ray review here) to begin haunting homes all over the country and beyond, and as a means to give the devil his due, we've landed a neat little clip for you guys! From the Press Release:

Film Independent, the non-profit arts organization that produces the Spirit Awards and the Los Angeles Film Festival, announced nominations this morning for the 2011 Film Independent Spirit Awards; and we're pleased to report that the nominees include such genre-friendly names as Darren Aronofsky, Danny Boyle, Daniel Stamm, Eli Roth, Natalie Portman, and Ashley Bell.

2010 is starting to wind down, which means it's time for all the various awards shows to begin rearing their heads. First up are The People's Choice Awards, which have a new category this go-round for Favorite Horror Movie. Here are some of the genre nominee highlights:

As evidenced by the recent American box office success of The Last Exorcism, horror movies are more popular than ever, but is that popularity limited to the good old US of A? Absolutely not if a recent report by the UK's Sky News is any indication. According to them horror films are increasing in popularity, and some experts claim it is because of the gloomy economic times.

The only thing that can soften the horrendous news that Vampires Suck made more money for the second week in a row than Piranha 3D (thanks for bringing us one step closer to Idiocracy, brain dead America) is Lionsgate's terror tale The Last Exorcism nabbing the top honors at the box office this weekend. I guess the devil made us do it! According to Box Office Mojo the flick opened with a very healthy estimated $21.3 million. At least theatre-goers get it right sometimes.

Toronto After Dark Film Festival 2010 wrapped up eight thrilling nights of new horror, sci-fi, action and cult cinema last week, blazing new cinematic trails and setting new records.
