‘Life Is Strange’ TV Series Expands Cast With Tom Cullen, Leisha Hailey, Raúl Castillo and Owen Teague

The Life Is Strange TV series adaptation at Amazon Prime Video is fully casting up, and Variety has the word on its newest town members.

  • Tom Cullen (House of the Dragon, Downton Abbey, Trespasses, Mudtown, Black Mirror, Weekend, Black Church Bay, The Last Days on Mars)
  • Leisha Hailey (The L Word, The L Word: Generation Q, Silicon Valley, Bosch, CSI)
  • Raúl Castillo (Looking, The Walking Dead: Dead City, Task, American Horror Stories, Cha Cha Real Smooth, Army of the Dead)
  • Owen Teague (Task, Black Mirror, Mrs. Fletcher, The Stand, It, It: Chapter Two, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, You Hurt My Feelings)

They join Maisy Stella and Tatum Grace Hopkins, who have been cast as Chloe and Max, respectively.

Per the official logline, the show follows Max (Hopkins), “a photography student, who discovers she can rewind time while saving the life of her childhood best friend, Chloe (Stella). As she struggles to understand this new skill, the pair investigate the mysterious disappearance of a fellow student, uncovering a dark side to their town that will ultimately force them to make an impossible life or death choice that will impact them forever.”

Cullen will play Mark Jefferson, Max’s teacher, while Hailey will play Joyce Price, Chloe’s mother. Castillo is set to play David Madsen, Chloe’s stepfather. Teague will play Frank Bowers, a local drug dealer.

Karyn Kusama, one of the most distinctive filmmakers working today, having put her stamp on projects ranging from the cult classic Jennifer’s Body to Æon Flux, XX, and the festival favorite The Invitation, is directing the pilot.

The show is based on the hit videogame franchise of the same name.

Life Is Strange is created by Charlie Covell, who also serves as executive producer and showrunner. Mackenzie Dohr will write and executive produce. Karyn Kusama will direct the first two episodes and executive produce under her Familystyle production banner. Dmitri M. Johnson, Michael Lawrence Goldberg, and Timothy I. Stevenson will executive produce via Story Kitchen. Jen Roskind also executive produces, as do Dani Gorin and Natalie Berkus of LuckyChap. The series comes from Square Enix, Story Kitchen, and LuckyChap, with Amazon MGM Studios producing.
