’28 Years Later’ Star Jodie Comer Joins HBO’s Kidnapping Thriller ‘The Chain’

'28 Years Later' Star Jodie Comer

THR reports this morning that Jodie Comer (Killing Eve, 28 Years Later, The Bikeriders) will lead HBO’s new thriller series The Chain, from showrunner Damon Lindelof (Lost, Watchmen).

Comer will play Rachel, a suburban mother “who must consider the unthinkable when her daughter is kidnapped.”

The Chain is based on Adrian McKinty’s 2019 novel of the same name, which centers on a horrifying kidnapping scheme where parents are forced to abduct another child in order to secure the release of their own.

Lindelof is reportedly expanding the mythology beyond the original novel.

“From the moment I heard the wild and original premise of Adrian’s book, I was shocked, surprised and angry I hadn’t thought of it myself,” Lindelof said when the series order was announced. “I’ve always wanted to try to adapt a great thriller and this one has all the dark, weird, exhilarating touches that fire up my imagination.”
