Don Mancini Developing a TV Series with Jennifer Tilly and Writing an Original Haunted House Film!

During Steel City Con this past weekend, Child’s Play creator Don Mancini revealed that he’s writing a new Chucky movie to the cheers of the crowd and fans everywhere. Yet the good news didn’t stop there.
During the Q&A, Mancini added, “I’m also trying to develop a new TV series with Jennifer Tilly. A friend of mine, his name is Laurent Bouzereau… so that’s something we’re developing with Jennifer. And I’m also writing a new non-Chucky horror movie...a haunted house story.”
Wow, talk about a loaded sentence! Mancini didn’t offer any details on the projects, so who knows if the TV series with Tilly will be horror (my guess is yes). Tilly turned out to be a perfect pairing with Mancini when she stepped into the role of Tiffany in Bride of Chucky. The two have been making killer doll magic together ever since.
As for the haunted house story, Mancini has my attention. Curse of Chucky has its detractors, but I enjoy the film. Even though its not technically a ghost story, it has a haunted house film vibe, sort of a throwback to the 70s haunters like The Amityville Horror.
Mancini has been with Chucky forever, having written the scripts for each film since the original before taking over as director with Seed of Chucky, as well as showrunner for the “Chucky” TV series. Mancini has only ever directed the murderous Good Guy, so it’ll be exciting to see him behind the camera on an original horror film.
Stay tuned to Dread for more details on the projects as we learn them.
