'Jaws Explored' Trailer Promises a Fresh Look at the Film's Lasting Cultural Impact

Over the past five decades, Jaws has inspired a remarkable number of feature-length documentaries exploring its troubled production, enduring legacy, and cultural impact.

Among the most notable are The Shark Is Still Working (2007), the acclaimed fan-produced chronicle of the film’s influence; Jamie Benning’s Inside Jaws (2013), an exhaustive “filmumentary” that combines the movie with behind-the-scenes material; and the official Jaws @ 50: The Definitive Inside Story (2025), featuring Steven Spielberg’s most extensive retrospective on the film to date.

Together with earlier documentaries such as Jaws: The Inside Story (1998) and In the Teeth of Jaws (1997), these films reflect the enduring fascination with a production whose behind-the-scenes story has become almost as legendary as the blockbuster itself.

Next is Jaws Explored, which will take fans and cinephiles on an immersive journey beneath the surface of one of Hollywood’s greatest films.

The official synopsis also notes that Jaws has been well served by traditional ‘making-ofs’ and a dedicated fandom over the past 50 years, noting that Jaws Explored is “a brand new way of looking at the film,” further noting that “this latest documentary dives into influences, decades of appreciation, obsession, and the film’s cultural impact.

“The result will be an immersive celebration of a genre masterpiece that transcends cinema itself — not what happened but why Jaws still holds onto us and refuses to let go.”

Okay.
