‘Pacifico’ Teaser Has Serious ‘Alien’ Vibes

The first official teaser for Pacifico, a new creature feature from visionary Latin filmmaker Gonzalo Gutiérrez “GG” (Giants), has been unveiled ahead of the Cannes Film Market.
Reportedly budgeted at $10 million, Pacifico is being billed as the biggest Spanish-language sci-fi adventure film ever made and is already generating major buzz ahead of market screenings.
The film follows a group of young travelers stranded on an island in the Pacific, who struggle to escape an evil presence hidden from mankind for centuries.
The cast includes:
• Gabi de Faria (Superman)
• Manolo Cardona (Undertow, The Snitch Cartel, Who Killed Sara?, Narcos)
• Christopher Von Uckermann (Rebelde, Kdabra, How to Break Up with Your Douchebag)
• Claudio Cataño (One Hundred Years of Solitude)
• Ricardo Abarca (Que Culpa Tiene el Niño, Cumbia Ninja, Miss Bala)
• Maria Nela Sinisterra (Corazon de Leon)
Pacifico hails from Buenos Aires-based outfit FilmSharks and is produced by Mauricio Brunetti (Corazon de Leon) and Guido Rud (Lobo Feroz, No Dormiras), with Florencia Lemoine (Giants) serving as executive producer.
“This is the biggest and most ambitious science fiction theatrical film ever made in Spanish where we created a spaceship world and universe where we worked to naturally mix narrative layers,” said producer Guido Rud. “Pacifico is about so much more than alien spaceships and monsters: it’s about how we understand that this is an old planet with so many hidden truths and untold stories of how visitors were more often than imagined. Top-tier buyers are chasing this title and we aim to announce many key territories shortly.”
Gutiérrez gained attention with his sci-fi short project Underland: The Last Surfacer, which drew comparisons to Fede Alvarez. He is also a founding member of Argentina’s VFX association and brings that technical expertise to the film’s ambitious, practical-heavy visual effects approach.
Here’s the trailer that clearly pulls inspiration from Ridley Scott’s Alien.
