‘A Blind Bargain’ Trailer Reimagines Lost Lon Chaney Horror Film with Crispin Glover

Perhaps best known for his role as The Phantom in Universal’s The Phantom of the Opera (1925), Lon Chaney was one of the original kings of horror on screen. Even if you’ve never seen it, you likely know that iconic image of the Phantom’s ghoulish face (one that Chaney applied himself). As prolific of an actor as he was, some films have gotten lost along the way, one of those being A Bling Bargain (1922). Now, a trailer has been released for a reimagining of the film starring Crispin Glover (Willard).

The reimagining acts as a stylized time capsule set in 1970, dubbed “an evocative throwback that will captivate cinephiles, fans of classic suspense and lovers of offbeat cinema.”

I especially love the below poster, as it has a bit of The Abominable Dr. Phibes vibe to it.

In the film, “A desperate young man strikes a dark deal with an unhinged doctor, unknowingly offering up his mother as a subject for the twisted experiments of a morally ambiguous physician seeking to reverse the aging process. However, he soon realizes that he failed to read the fine print and that every bargain has a price.”

Jake Horowitz (Bones and All), Lucy Loken (Teen Wolf), Annalisa Cochrane (Cobra Kai), Amy Wright (The Amityville Horror), Sean Whalen (Twister), Jed Rowen (Pretty Boy) and Rob Mayes (John Dies at the End) also star.

Paul Bunnell directs from a screenplay written by John E. Falotico and Paul Bunnell and based on a story by Bing Bailey

Paul Bunnell and Bing Bailey produced alongside co-producer John Duffy. John E. Falotico executive produced.

Shot on Kodak film, see A Blind Bargain when it begins a limited theatrical release on April 24th in NYC and May 8th in Los Angeles, with other cities/dates to be announced soon.
