2024 is an election year and by the looks of it, it’s going to be a wild one. So why not start the year with one helluva election horror film from Erik and Carson Bloomquist? The horror-making duo’s latest is Founders Day, directed by Erik and written by both Erik and Carson. Their political slasher takes a gavel to the heads of all in their way. No, literally, they smash heads with a gavel.

In this bold political slasher from the Bloomquist Brothers, a small town is shaken by a series of ominous killings in the days leading up to a heated mayoral election. As accusations fly and the threat of a masked killer darkens every street corner, the residents must race to uncover the truth before fear consumes the town.

Dread Central’s Tyler Doupé saw Founders Day as part of this year’s Popcorn Frights Film Festival. In his review, he said, “The Bloomquist siblings have, once again, delivered a slasher film that shows love for the genre whilst taking a fresh and unexpected approach that kept me guessing.”
Devin Druid, Emilia McCarthy, Amy Hargreaves, Catherine Curtin, William Russ, Naomi Grace, Olivia Nikkanen, Jayce Bartok, Andrew Stewart Jones, Tyler James White, Erik Bloomquist, Adam Weppler, Kate Edmonds, Dylan Slade, and Arun Cameron Storrs star in the holiday-themed slasher.
Founders Day comes exclusively to theaters on January 19, 2024, from Dark Sky Films.
