‘Exit 8’, ‘Saccharine’, and ‘Chum’ Head to AMC/Shudder This July

Three very different horror films are arriving on streaming this summer, as AMC has announced that both liminal horror film Exit 8 and Natalie Erika James‘ body horror movie, Saccharine are coming to Shudder this July, with fin flick Chum swimming onto AMC+ around the same time.

Exit 8 tells the story of a man lost in a subway tunnel who must discover certain anomalies to find his way out.

In his review of the film, Dread’s Josh Korngut referred to Exit 8 as the “best video game adaptation ever made”.

Saccharine tells the story of a lovelorn medical student who is terrorized by a sinister force after taking part in an obscure weight-loss craze: eating human ashes.

The film marks the third feature outing for James, who debuted with the critically acclaimed Relic and the less well-received but still pretty solid (in my opinion) Rosemary’s Baby prequel, Apartment 7A.

In his review of Saccharine, Dread’s own Chad Collins labeled the film “misguided body horror that eats its own tail.”

Saccharine hits Shudder on July 24th.

In Chum, Tina, a newlywed, whose tension with her husband, Tom, is put on the back burner after a shark leaves them stranded in open waters. Rescue comes, though it’s in the form of a deranged killer who plans to use Tina and her friends as literal shark bait.

Chad Collins wasn’t a fan of this one either, writing that the film is “uninspired, rudimentary, and an outright failure”. Ouch.

Chum swims onto AMC+ July 24th.
