Peacock is set to remain in “The Burbs“, as the streamer has announced they’ve renewed the Keke Palmer-starring series for a second season, reports Deadline.

Based on Joe Dante’s cult classic, the series follows a young couple returning to the husband’s childhood home. When strange new neighbors move in next door, old secrets of the cul-de-sac come to light, and deadly threats shatter the illusion of their quiet little neighborhood.

The Burbs also stars Julia Duffy (Scream Queens), Paula Pell, Jack Whitehall, Mark Proksch (What We Do In the Shadows), Kapil Talwalkar, Kyrie McAlpin (Them) and Justin Kirk (Wayward Pines).

The news comes after the series had the highest day one ratings ever for a Peacock original. The Burbs even made Nielsen’s U.S. Originals Top 10 for four consecutive weeks. Impressive, to say the least.

Said Lisa Katz, President of Scripted Content at NBC and Peacock, “We’re so thrilled that audiences loved season one of The ’Burbs, and are going to get to spend more time in Hinkley Hills with Keke and the rest of this incredible cast. A huge congratulations to all of the writers, producers and crew who updated the beloved original film and made something funny, warm and highly contemporary.”

Stream all eight episodes of “The Burbs” on Peacock now.
