Arcana Plans Five Comic Adaptations
Arcana Studios announced a deal today with Legacy Filmworks and Bron Management to see five films based on their comics made into films, the first of which will be the Kevin Sorbo-starrer Paradox.
According to THR, Sorbo will star as a homicide detective on a parallel Eath where everything is run by magic who is investigating a series of murders committed using something called “science”. “Stargate: Atlantis” director Brenton Spencer will be at the helm.
Another slated project is Chopper, a re-telling of the Sleepy Hollow legend penned by Martin Shapiro that goes something like this: ”After taking a hit of a strange new ecstasy-like drug at the Daytona Bike Week festival, the rebellious teenage daughter of a police officer begins seeing ghosts and is stalked by the Reaper, a headless Hell’s Angel on a motorcycle that hunts down sinners.” Nice! Been too long since we’ve had an evil biker movie if you ask me. They’re hoping to start filming Chopper next month.
Also planned is an adaptation of Jay Busbee’s Sundown, the tale of a New York City reporter who heads out to a small town in 1880 to cover the deaths of a series of preachers. He ends up at the front line of a war for the “very soul of America”. Sundown is looking at an April or May start.
We’ll have more on the rest of the films in the slate very soon, so keep your eyes on the road!
