Thanks to its massive group of 1.5 million loyal Heathens, WGN America’s “Salem” experienced impressive ratings gains for its Season Two premiere when Live + 3 Viewing (a new industry standard that tracks who watched a show within three days of the original airing) was taken into account.  In fact, it enjoyed the highest lift across all new and returning premieres on cable this season among Adults 18-49.

Is everyone ready to kick things up a notch with Episode 2.02, “Blood Kiss,” written by creators Brannon Braga and Adam Simon and directed by Allan Arkush? If so, here are a pair of sneak peeks along with several images from and an expanded synopsis of the ep.

“Salem” Episode 2.02 – “Blood Kiss” (air date 4/12/15)
Mary (Montgomery), infuriated by Mercy’s (Eberle) defiance, initiates the second phase of the Grand Rite by rallying the citizenry of Salem to retaliate against her former protégé’s brutal act of violence with a startling message of their own.

Dr. Wainwright’s (Townsend) search for clues to cure the plague creates concern for the Selectmen – and, for additional reasons, Mary and Tituba (Madekwe).

Meanwhile, John Alden (West) prepares for an epic confrontation still to come and has a telling encounter with an unexpected ally; Mary’s son (Bell) begins to show another, unsettling side of his nature; the Countess (Lawless) gains some key information; and Anne Hale (Merchant) – ripe with her new and as-of-yet uncontrollable powers – embarks on an unforeseen journey… but discovers more than she bargained for.

Guest starring in “Blood Kiss” are Michael Mulheren as George Sibley, Christopher Berry as Petrus, Sammi Hanratty as Dollie, Jeremy Crutchley as Hathorne, Henri Lubatti as Thomas Eliot, Thomas Francis Murphy as Rev. Lewis, Raoul Trujillo as the Shaman, and Cara Santana as Sooleawa.
