Before I Wake Pushed Back to September

It looks to be a pretty jam-packed summer in terms of theatrical horror releases, with films like Poltergeist and The Vatican Tapes adding a little gloom and doom to the season. Another flick with a planned summer release was Mike Flanagan’s Before I Wake, which has just been bumped back a few months.

Variety reports today that Relativity Studios has opted to move the film out of its summer slot, now set to haunt theaters on September 25th. The original release date was May 8th, and Relativity says the change was made because they feel horror fare is more suited to the fall. Can’t disagree with that!

Directed by Mike Flanagan, Before I Wake stars Kate Bosworth (Superman Returns), Thomas Jane (TV’s “Hung”), Annabeth Gish (TV’s “Pretty Little Liars”), Dash Mihok (TV’s “Ray Donovan”), and introducing Jacob Tremblay as Cody.

Synopsis:
In this intense and heart-pounding supernatural thriller, Jessie (Bosworth) and Mark (Jane) decide to take in a sweet and loving 8-year-old boy, Cody. Unbeknownst to them, Cody is terrified of falling asleep. At first they assume his previous unstable homes caused his aversion to sleep but soon discover why: Cody’s dreams manifest in reality as he sleeps. In one moment they experience the incredible wonder of Cody’s imagination and in the next the horrific nature of his night terrors. To save their new family, Jessie and Mark embark on a dangerous hunt to uncover the truth behind Cody’s nightmares.
