Pan’s Labyrinth Gets in the Spirit
It’s not even December yet, but already the nominations are in for Film Independent’s 2007 Spirit Awards. As the first event to honor independent film exclusively, Film Independent’s Spirit Awards has made a name for itself as the premier awards event for the independent film community. It’s a celebration of the spirited pioneers who bring a unique vision to filmmaking.
You simply cannot mention the words “pioneers” and “vision” without thinking of one of Dread Central’s favorite filmmakers, Guillermo del Toro, and I’m happy to report that del Toro’s innovative Pan’s Labyrinth has received two Spirit Award nominations. Pan’s is up for both Best Picture and Best Cinematography (Guillermo Navarro). Congrats to everyone involved with the film!
The 2007 Spirit Awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, February 24, and will be broadcast live on IFC (Independent Film Channel) with an edited re-broadcast airing later that evening on AMC. Be sure to tune in, and in the meantime, visit the film’s official site in preparation for its release on December 29th.
