It’s somewhat surprising how little we still know about the spin-off series to “The Walking Dead,” which is titled either “Cobalt,” “Fear the Walking Dead,” or something else entirely. But we’ve got some new info for you today, which is quite interesting.

In an interview with THR, producer Gale Anne Hurd talked at length about the various projects she’s worked on over the years, and the conversation eventually turned to “The Walking Dead.” Hurd revealed that the pilot has been shot, though the future is unclear.

No because we haven’t been picked up to series yet,” Hurd replied, when asked if she knew when the spin-off would premiere on AMC.

Definitely a surprising bit of information, as it’s hard to understand why AMC wouldn’t be all over this. That said, it’s likely a matter of time before a full series is ordered. So stay tuned for more info about this one.

Adam Davidson directed the pilot, which stars Kim Dickens, Frank Dillane, Alycia Debnam Carey, and Cliff Curtis. Robert Kirkman and Dave Erickson (who also serves as showrunner) exec produce alongside “The Walking Dead’s” Gale Anne Hurd and Dave Alpert.

The spinoff takes place during the same zombie apocalypse depicted on “The Walking Dead” but in a different location. It’s set in Los Angeles and revolves around Sean Cabrera (Curtis), a divorced teacher, and Nancy Tompkins (Dickens), a female guidance counselor. Dillane plays Nancy’s son, Nick, who has battled a drug problem. Debnam Carey plays Nancy’s ambitious daughter, Ashley.
