Constantine Sequel Planned

So perhaps all is not lost for those of us who enjoyed the hell out of Constantine, the Hellblazer comic adaptation that came out a few years back with very little fanfare but a solid fanbase.

The folks at Rope of Silicon attended a press junket for Unaccompanied Minors this past weekend and learned from producer Lauren Shuler Donner that Constantine 2 is in the works with a few directors being courted to come in and take over the role from Francis Lawrence, who’s a little too busy with I Am Legend to have time to sequelize his first film.

“We are really going to go for it, it will be a hard ‘R’ and Keanu [Reeves] will be in it,” Donner told the site. “The area that we found is great, it will be outside of America. It will be a different director but Francis [Lawrence] will produce it, we will maintain his vision.”

RoS promises some more information soon from the same press junket so we’ll keep our eyes open for it. Personally I’m very happy that it’s being worked on because I thought the original was great and anyone who’s read the Hellblazer comics knows there’s a ton of storylines they can pick and choose from for more films.
