kimdickensWe previously learned who the male lead is in “Cobalt,” the codename for AMC’s “The Walking Dead” spinoff, and now, as a little pre-Christmas gift to the fans, the female star has been revealed.

According to Deadline, Kim Dickens (“Sons of Anarchy,” Gone Girl, “Treme”) will portray Nancy Tompkins, a thirtysomething single mom to two kids (Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey as Nick and Ashley, respectively).

Nancy looks like the girl next door, but there’s an edge to her. Her troubled past will come back to haunt her.

Along with Dillane and Carey, Dickens joins Cliff Curtis as Sean Cabrera, a teacher who shares a son with his ex-wife, Andrea. As previously announced, the setting of the spinoff is Los Angeles.

The pilot, which is being called “Cobalt” for the time being, was written by “TWD” creator Robert Kirkman and Dave Erickson. Adam Davidson will direct.  Kirkman and Erickson (who also serves as showrunner) exec produce alongside “The Walking Dead’s” Gale Anne Hurd and Dave Alpert.

The remaining characters that have yet to be cast include:

CODY CABRERA: Sean’s whip-smart and rebellious teenage son. Known as the angriest kid in town.

ANDREA CHAPMAN: A somewhat wilted flower child, fortysomething Andrea has retreated to the outskirts of the city to recover after a horrible marriage.

Stay tuned for more as it comes!
