Oh, what the hell, we haven’t done an Evil Dead 4 story in a while, have we? Luckily The Chin got to jawing with MTV’s Movie Blog recently on that very subject, which gives us something to talk about.
First of all no, it’s not definite. Nothing is planned, written, or even schemed. But Raimi did say recently that he’d like to bring the franchise back to life again, so of course the rumor mill got spinning anew. For his part, Bruce Campbell is more than willing to get back into the ripped shirt and chainsaw hand, despite the fact the he’s not getting any younger.
“Sam gets to hide behind the camera. I can’t.” Campbell told the blog, ”But I think he’s planning on factoring that in as like a major factor. It’d be a major liability, you know Ash runs out of breath or his back goes out and [stuff] like that. I mean I just blew my hamstring fighting a stunt guy for “Burn Notice,” the show that I’m doing now. So there’s a little bit of truth to all of that!”
He goes on to assure the interviewer and fans that if Evil Dead 4 does happen, we won’t have to worry about Ash getting stuck with a pint-sized sidekick (even though he was in one of the ED video games…) “I think the audience would be insulted if you did, because then you feel this obvious pressure to appeal,” he admitted. “The beauty of the ‘Evil Dead’ movies is that you’re only appealing to one demographic and that’s people who like horror movies. And you just have to please them. You don’t have to appeal to the studio. You’re already pleasing them by giving them part 4.”
Which may be the #1 reason why it’s taken so long for anything to actually happen with the sequel. Something tells me, though, that if Sam’s return to horror, Drag Me to Hell, does well, this long-discussed sequel could actual become reality. Keep it here for updates!

- Jack Derwent I thought the film was great. I didn't get the impression that the film was misogynistic at all. Martyrs I could see the argument but in this film it was ultimately about the two sisters persevering...
- Twist Of Kane She received a paycheck for doing the new Halloween also. Let's not pretend she did it solely for the fans.
- One-Eye ROAD GAMES is great. Although it's no secret Curtis had a bad experience shooting in Australia, so I guess that colours her memory of the film.
- Christopher Parker Howard I'm curious what people found so scary, or even original about this film. It's a 2 hour family drama with 15 minutes of supernatural horror all at the end. There was some great disturbing imagery for...
- Andrew Lyall I love stuff like this, keep em coming!
